Project Description

This is an information guide to life in Melbourne and Australian customs, tailored specifically to the Hazara refugees who settle in Melbourne. The style, colours, design and use of icons have been carefully chosen based on extensive research into Hazara culture, traditions, beliefs and levels of literacy/understanding of the English language. The concept behind the information pack is convenience and realistic use. Many people who travel the world do not wish to look as though they are tourists with cumbersome maps and large information books. Refugees often arrive in a country for resettlement for the sole purpose of security and safety, not because they want to leave their homes, countries and culture. As they may already feel out of place in a totally foreign land, these guides have been designed to be small and discreet, and easily stored in a pocket or wallet for convenience and portability.
